'I AM BOXER' released the declarations of intent from the four semifinalists who advanced: Guk Seung-joon, Cho Hyun-jae, Lee Chae-hyun and Kwon O-gon.
Episode 9 of tvN I AM BOXER (directed by Lee Won-woong, written by Kang Sook-kyung), to be broadcast on the 16th, will feature the semifinal between "body killer" Guk Seung-joon, who has moved one step closer to the championship belt, "pretty boy" Cho Hyun-jae, "prince" Lee Chae-hyun and "thunder" Kwon O-gon. The four strongest boxers ahead of the semifinals delivered fervent determination, drawing attention.
First, Guk Seung-joon introduced his boxing style as "a forward-moving infighter who slowly but relentlessly applies pressure" and cited his main weapon as a powerful body uppercut. About his semifinal opponent Cho Hyun-jae, he said, "I think he is a really fast and unorthodox outboxer. He is a tricky opponent, but I will not give up; I will walk in step by step and break him down," and declared with grim resolve, "I will definitely reach the championship seat that is my dream and my family's dream. Whoever the opponent is, I will win."
Meanwhile, Cho Hyun-jae said, "I consider myself a 'player' who enjoys the contest in the ring. My style is to break down opponents with overwhelming speed and confidence," expressing confidence in his rear-hand uppercut and rear-hand straight timed to the opponent's rhythm.
He added, "Although Guk Seung-joon is tall, because he comes in aggressively, he will actually be an easier opponent for me, who boxes quickly and intelligently. I'm confident," burning with enthusiasm, and said, "No matter who the opponent is, I will fight with the same mindset as at the start, so that viewers will think 'he's really enjoying this,' and I will fight entertainingly and stylishly," making the outcome of Cho Hyun-jae's match with Guk Seung-joon even more anticipated.
Lee Chae-hyun, who said, "My boxing is to land many punches without being hit," described himself as "a 'hexagonal boxer' who combines endless offense with savvy defense. My most confident technique is the counter punch called 'sseuk-ppak.'"
He continued, "I have always considered Kwon O-gon a formidable opponent. But I don't think I'm outclassed in skill. I am 100% confident I will win," and vowed, "Now that the number of remaining competitors has been narrowed to four, I don't think winning is impossible. I will fight each match as if my life depends on it. I will make it clear how I made it this far."
On the other hand, Kwon O-gon said, "My style is a powerful punch built on fast hand speed. I'm confident in jabs and straights that enter with lightning timing and in flurries of punches." Praising Lee Chae-hyun, whom he faces in the semifinals, as "a smart fighter with perfect balance between offense and defense," he added, "But I will show what the destructive power of boxing is and why I was a two-division champion. I will win thinking of my wife and son," pledging to win and setting the stage for a fierce contest with Lee Chae-hyun.
