Singer and broadcaster Shin Jeong-hwan revealed grievances about settlements during his time with Country Kko Kko.
On the 14th, a video titled "Shin Jeong-hwan, an icon of atonement who would rather die than wear a Moncler parka despite the crazy cold wave" was uploaded to the "Noppakku Tak Jae-Hoon" channel.
That day Shin Jeong-hwan appeared on "Noppakku Tak Jae-Hoon" and recalled reuniting with Country Kko Kko member Tak Jae-Hoon after about eight years. While performing a sketch, the two spontaneously sang Country Kko Kko's song "Happy Christmas," reminiscing about past memories.
Meanwhile Shin Jeong-hwan snapped, "Suddenly singing this song makes me feel like it's Christmas, it's a good feeling, but do you remember this song from back then? About 150,000 copies of the album sold and the company gave us 2 million won each," and added, "Ah, I'm getting worked up all of a sudden."
Shin Gyu-jin exclaimed, "150,000 copies sold and you got 2 million won each?" in surprise, and Tak Jae-Hoon tilted his head and asked, "Was that so?" Shin Jeong-hwan asked, "Don't you remember, hyung?" and Tak Jae-Hoon replied, "I had forgotten."
In response, Shin Jeong-hwan revealed, "This carol did so well. So they told me to come in to get the settlement. I went into the office expecting they'd give me money today so I could buy gifts and have things to spend, but for two hours they were like, 'You know we're family. We're going to stick together. You worked hard,' and then they handed me two envelopes. But you can't look at envelopes from the front like this. It's rude to look there on the spot. They kept saying, 'We work hard too,' so I said, 'Thank you' and when I came out and looked there was about 2 million won."
Tak Jae-Hoon said, "Right. I think I remember. It was shocking. You remember that? Isn't that a story from about 30 years ago? Wasn't it 1998 or 1999? It's been 26 years," and Shin Jeong-hwan said in surprise, "Has it been that long?" When asked how much he originally thought it would be, he answered, "2,000," and Tak Jae-Hoon empathized, "Same as me."
Shin Gyu-jin wondered, "If 150,000 copies sold and 200 [won per person]..." and Shin Jeong-hwan emphasized, "I don't have exact data as far as I know, but it sold over 100,000 copies." Meanwhile, on the 2nd Shin Jeong-hwan appeared on "B-grade hearing" and while explaining the formation of Country Kko Kko raised settlement issues, saying, "Although Ruler seemed to do well, I never properly received settlements. Then Lee Sang-min, seeing this, explained, "I was also an artist at the agency. Who would I be settling for? All the members were settled equally," and said, "I'm not the Ruler boss. We were settled equally and worked twice as hard. The Ruler members were full of passion."
