Broadcaster Jang Young-ran visited the home of Go Chun-ja, a shaman with 40 years of experience who was the real-life model for Hwarim (Kim Goeun) and a driving force behind the box-office success of the film Exhuma.
On the afternoon of Jan. 14, a video titled 'Why did Korea's No. 1 shaman with 40 years of experience cry more than Jang Young-ran's fortunetelling?' was posted on the YouTube channel A-grade Jang Young-ran.
Jang Young-ran said, "She has a career of a full 40 years. I heard that she and her daughter-in-law read fortunes together, so I came to get my new year fortune read," expressing her anticipation.
Lee Da-young, Go Chun-ja's daughter-in-law who was present, frankly shared why she decided to appear in the film and serve as an adviser. Lee Da-young said, "Hasn't social prejudice and misunderstanding about shamans been severe until now?" she began, and explained, "The role of 'Hwarim' has a righteous side and so well showed the true spirit of a shaman who sacrifices for others that I think I was determined to take the role."
Shaman Go Chun-ja is known as the real-life model for the film's shaman 'Hwarim.' She said, "When I received the script, the content was pretty good, so I taught (Kim Goeun) for about two years," drawing attention.
