'Extreme 84' Unreleased footage captured before the Arctic Polar Circle Marathon is drawing attention as it conveys both the crew's human charm and the tension ahead of their final challenge.
On the 14th, MBC entertainment program 'Extreme 84' released unreleased footage from the Arctic Polar Circle Marathon.
The unreleased footage shows the Extreme crew reuniting with the local running crew they had run with in downtown Copenhagen, Denmark. After receiving their Arctic Marathon bibs, the Extreme crew, who had socialized with the Copenhagen running crew during the day, encountered an unexpected gift. The local running crew presented the actual Arctic Marathon medals they had brought themselves and revealed photos from the race.
Kian84, who saw the actual Arctic Marathon medal for the first time, could not hide his surprise, and Gangnam repeatedly marveled at the vivid Arctic photos and images of the runners. A Copenhagen running crew member said, "There was almost no snow when we started, but by the end of the Race there was a lot of snow," explaining the Arctic's changeable weather, and even shared footage of cautiously walking on ice with crampons on, adding realism to the Arctic race.
Especially when Gangnam revealed, "My first marathon was the Arctic Marathon," the local running crew members were astonished. When asked, "Do you have a target finish time?", Kwon Hwa Woon said, "I want to come in first," showing the bold ambition befitting a 'runchinja.' Asked if he had a running coach, he replied, "Kian84 is my dream," expressing trust and affection for the crew leader.
At the gathering, aurora photos taken in Greenland were also revealed, raising the Extreme crew's expectations. However, when they heard the marathon day's weather was forecast to be snowy and cloudy, Kian84 lamented, "They say you can see the aurora if there are no clouds. But there's a cloud forecast," unable to hide his disappointment.
The mood was turned around by Gangnam's surprise event. With the birthday cake Gangnam prepared, the 'Kian84 birthday party' restarted and unexpectedly became a celebration as the local running crew joined in.
