Ahn Sun-young explained her mother's condition, saying, "The dementia diagnosis was seven years ago, and last year she collapsed from a stroke, which greatly worsened her cognitive impairment. It is truly confusing."
While driving, Ahn Sun-young continuously asked her mother questions. Her mother roughly remembered Ahn Sun-young's age, and the hosts noted, "She remembers everything about her daughter." Ahn Sun-young asked, "What is your daughter's name?" and her mother replied, "I can't remember your name. Maybe I'm all finished," with a sad expression.
Ahn Sun-young said, "For about one or two years I couldn't cry. Changing my mother's diaper, leaving her at the hospital and smiling while doing broadcasts felt unreal. Then I became sick," expressing her hardships. Ahn Sun-young added, "There is still no cure for dementia. We must enjoy the present as much as possible, even if only a little."
Afterward, Ahn Sun-young spent a full day on dates with her mother, visiting a hair salon, a shop and a barbecue restaurant. Ahn Sun-young recalled memories of her mother, saying, "I have never spent time like this with my mother before. She was busy working. She used to not even hold my hand. I didn't like my mother. After living about 50 years, I now understand why she lived as a harsh and scary mother to me, and I have forgiven her."
After finishing the date, they returned to the nursing home. After leaving her mother there, Ahn Sun-young confessed, "They say the most wasted time in the world is time spent hating someone. I wasted 50 years hating my mother. Why was my mother so poor? Why was she so tough? Why wouldn't she speak kindly to me? I only hated her," admitting she had hated her mother in the past.
She continued, "She worked hard on rehabilitation, so now she can go to the bathroom by herself, her hands don't tremble. I'm so grateful. As long as she eats well, sleeps well, keeps dressing up and stays healthy like now, I'll take care of everything," she said, bursting into tears.
