ADOR, the agency representing the group NewJeans, won the damages suit it filed against director Shin Woo-seok of the advertising production company Dolphiners Film.
On the 13th, the Civil Division 62 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Director General Lee Hyun-seok) ruled in the damages suit ADOR filed against director Shin Woo-seok and Dolphiners Film, ordering Dolphiners Film to pay ADOR 1 billion won and interest for delay.
Dolphiners Film, which directed NewJeans' "Ditto" and "ETA," released the director's cut of "ETA" on Dolphiners Film's YouTube channel in August last year. Afterwards, director Shin Woo-seok said "ADOR requested deletion of the related videos" and deleted all NewJeans videos he had posted on another unofficial fandom channel he operated, the "Ban Hee-soo channel."
ADOR rebutted that "we only requested the takedown of the 'ETA' director's cut video and did not request deletion or suspension of uploads of all videos related to NewJeans such as the Ban Hee-soo channel. Director Shin is spreading false information."
In response, director Shin Woo-seok filed a complaint saying ADOR's statement, which referred to the '(director's cut) unauthorized release,' damaged his reputation, and ADOR filed a damages suit against Dolphiners Film saying "the unauthorized release of NewJeans videos owned by the company was illegal."
