As the Dubai jjondeuk cookie has surged in popularity and the prices of ingredients such as pistachios have nearly doubled, actor Kim Kwang-kyu tried the Dubai jjondeuk cookie for the first time and said it was "like a sandbag."
According to SBS on the 12th, Kim Kwang-kyu appeared on the variety show "My Too Picky Manager – Secretary-jin," which aired on the 9th. He received a Dubai jjondeuk cookie as a gift from Ahn Yu-jin, a member of IVE, and experienced it for the first time.
Trying the Dubai jjondeuk cookie for the first time, Kim Kwang-kyu, reacting to its chewy cookie texture, said, "What is this, is it chapssaltteok?" After taking a bite, he was surprised, saying, "It's like the sandbag from when I was in elementary school."
Kim Kwang-kyu said, "As soon as I tear it open, it chews like sand inside," and evaluated, "It tastes good, but the texture makes a sound like when you step on a sandy beach."
In response, Ahn Yu-jin said, "This is the first time I've heard a taste review like this," and added, "If you say that to (Jang) Won-young, she'll sulk."
The Dubai jjondeuk cookie, which has recently gained popularity, is a food that combines a chewy cookie made by melting marshmallows with Dubai chocolate made by mixing chocolate into kadayif, a thin Turkish-style noodle, and pistachio spread. Because roasted kadayif is mixed into the pistachio spread, it features a crispy texture.
As a "Dubai jjondeuk cookie boom" has taken hold among young people recently, it has become so popular that it sells out instantly at individual stores or convenience stores that carry it. On top of that, the prices of ingredients such as pistachios have reportedly doubled recently.
