Amid a halt to activities over allegations of abuse of power and controversy over illegal medical procedures through a 'needle auntie,' broadcaster Park Narae, who has been embroiled in a battle of truth with her former managers, faces a new revelation.
On the 13th, Dispatch obtained a medical confirmation from former manager A and KakaoTalk logs, then reported that Park Narae ordered various errands from her managers.
According to the report, Park Narae asked a manager waiting to board a plane after completing immigration procedures for the I Live Alone Taiwan shoot to bring a Chanel bag from her Itaewon home. The manager exited the airport through a temporary exit procedure, grabbed the Chanel bag that had been in the main bedroom's bathroom, and returned to the airport.
Park Narae's former managers claimed that among the errands Park Narae requested was a "gynecology proxy prescription" and released a medical confirmation and the KakaoTalk messages exchanged at the time. Manager A told manager B, "Buy me X medicine from the gynecology clinic. It needs to be taken before the recording," and B replied, "Do I have to receive the treatment myself…?" adding, "I hate that my medical data gets dirty like X."
A apologized, saying, "Ask them not to leave a record of that. I should have gone to pick up the medicine.. I'm sorry," and B vented, "It's Narae's fault; why is A apologizing? (To Park Narae) tell her to treat us really well. Really." According to their KakaoTalk messages, a manager was said to have received the medicine requested by Park Narae through a proxy prescription. Later, it also emerged that A, at Park Narae's request, had received a gynecology proxy prescription.
This could constitute a violation of the Medical Service Act and be punishable. Nevertheless, the managers brought it to light, saying, "There are things that only the person involved would know. Because someone cried during a call, we ask that people not recklessly speak as if they know everything," and "Some YouTubers said, 'Park Narae treated them so well, how could they do that?' Then what did we fail to do? Have you ever done errands like this? We really did our best," they said.
The managers claimed they ran errands not only for Park Narae but also booked a health checkup for Park Narae's younger brother and scheduled plastic surgery appointments for a friend of Park Narae's mother, and said they even brought snacks and alcohol for Park Narae to eat with her boyfriend during drinking gatherings.
The former managers flatly denied allegations of corporate card misuse and argued that among A's 1-year corporate card charges totaling 48,570,000 won was 3,600,000 won for a plastic surgery procedure for Park Narae's mother. They added that most of B's 67,050,000 won in charges were for company dinners, gifts such as traditional rings for fellow entertainers, and Park Narae's airfares. They also released KakaoTalk messages showing that the moment a corporate card charge was made it was reported to Park Narae, and that any charge she did not know about was immediately questioned.
Meanwhile, Park Narae has suspended activities amid multiple controversies. On the 3rd of last month, Park Narae's former managers filed an application for a real estate provisional seizure worth 100 million won with the Seoul Western District Court, alleging abuse of power, special injury, proxy prescriptions, illegal medical procedures and nonpayment of hosting fees. They also warned of a lawsuit seeking damages while appealing the harm they suffered during their employment. Park Narae denied the former managers' claims and instead countersued them on charges of attempted extortion.
Accordingly, the former managers accused Park Narae of embezzlement, saying she falsely registered a former boyfriend as an employee and transferred money under the guise of salary, and filed complaints also alleging special injury and defamation. Park Narae is currently under investigation on charges including violation of the Medical Service Act, special injury, violation of the Act on the Promotion of the Music and Film Industry, defamation by false statements, violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, and embezzlement. Later, Park Narae additionally sued her former managers on embezzlement charges, and a police investigation is underway.
