'In Your Radiant Season' revealed the script reading scene capturing the actors' heart-fluttering first chemistry, announcing a radiant start.
The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'In Your Radiant Season' (planned by Namgung Seong-woo, written by Jo Seong-hee, directed by Jeong Sang-hee and Kim Young-jae), set to premiere on Feb. 20 at 9:50 p.m., is a story about a man who lives every day like an exciting summer vacation, "Chan", and a woman who has locked herself in winter, "Ran", whose fateful meeting awakens frozen time in an unpredictable "Radiant" romance. It will delicately depict the process of two people who have lived in different seasons meeting and gradually sharing warmth and changing.
At the script reading were director Jeong Sang-hee and writer Jo Seong-hee, along with Lee Sung-kyoung (playing Song Ha-ran), Chae Jong Hyeop (playing Sun Woo-chan), Lee Mi-Sook (playing Kim Na-na), Kang Sukwoo (playing Park Man-jae), Han Ji-hyun (playing Song Ha-young), Oh Yeju (playing Song Ha-dam), Kwon Hyuk (playing Yeon Tae-seok), Gen.Kim Tae-young (playing Cha Yu-gyeom), Jang Yong-won (playing Je Rae-mi) and other actors who will lead 'In Your Radiant Season'. Despite it being their first meeting, the actors conducted the reading in a calm yet highly focused atmosphere, and as hidden backstories for each character and the intriguing relationships between characters were revealed, the scene was filled with warm energy and excitement.
First, Lee Sung-kyoung portrays Song Ha-ran, the head designer of Korea's top high-end fashion house "Nana Atelier," delicately conveying the complex emotions of a character who harbors wounds and has locked herself in winter. She conveyed the character's depth with a restrained voice and breathing, revealing the inner self hidden behind a solid defense with just a few lines of dialogue. Lee Sung-kyoung said, "Because the script was brought to life much more entertainingly than I imagined, I became convinced this will be a work that shines more on set than at the reading. I want to create a good work and show it soon."
Chae Jong Hyeop perfectly transformed into Sun Woo-chan, a character designer at a world-renowned animation studio, filling the set with bright energy. While revealing the side of a character who carries past wounds beneath a sunny, pleasant exterior, he completed a "radiant chemistry" with Lee Sung-kyoung from their first interaction. Chae Jong Hyeop expressed anticipation for the broadcast, saying, "It felt much more three-dimensional than when I read it alone. Being on set with the other actors allowed us to finish the reading more delightfully."
Lee Mi-Sook plays Kim Na-na, a legendary designer representing the global fashion world and the grandmother of the three sisters, delivering a performance that combined charisma and warmth. She solidly anchored the drama by densely expressing a designer's coldness, deep affection for her family, and the emotions of entering another season of life. Kang Sukwoo portrays Park Man-jae, a barista who runs the neighborhood café "Shim" after retiring, adding a gentle resonance to quiet daily life. Having reunited in one work about 40 years after the film "Winter Traveler," Lee Mi-Sook and Kang Sukwoo foreshadowed the charm of a senior romance and left a deep impression.
Meanwhile, Han Ji-hyun transformed into Song Ha-young, the junior designer on Nana Atelier's design team 1 and the middle sister of the three, showcasing the charm of a mood maker with a frank personality and a hearty laugh. Oh Yeju, as the youngest sister Song Ha-dam, showed a neat and mature side, promising a fresh change to the three sisters' chemistry.
Director Jeong Sang-hee, who directed the drama, said, "I think this work is ultimately a drama about cherishing. When we look back after time has passed, I hope the moment of participating in this work remains a source of pride," expressing deep trust in the cast and crew.
