"Is this love interpretable?" actor Kim Seon-ho complained about the difficulty of performing in multiple languages across four countries.
On the morning of the 13th, at the Chosun Palace Hotel in Yeoksan-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a press conference was held for Netflix's new series "Is this love interpretable?" The event was attended by the drama's male and female leads, actors Go Youn-jung and Kim Seon-ho, and director Yu Young-eun, who, under the moderation of broadcaster Park Kyung-rim, discussed the drama.
"Is this love interpretable?" is a unpredictable romantic comedy drama in which multilingual interpreter Joo Ho-jin (Kim Seon-ho) becomes the interpreter for global top star Cha Mu-hee (Go Youn-jung). It is a new work by writer sisters Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, who received praise for series including "Ggwaegul Chunhyang", "My Girl", "Fantastic Couple", "The Good, the Bad, the Weird", "You're Beautiful", "My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho", "The Greatest Love", "Master's Sun", "Hotel Del Luna", and "Alchemy of Souls." In addition, director Yu Young-eun, who was praised for KBS 2TV's "Bloody Heart," directed the series to enhance its visual beauty.
Among them, Kim Seon-ho plays the male lead Joo Ho-jin, a multilingual interpreter who handles four languages—Korean, Japanese, English and Italian.
Having performed intense action in previous works such as "The Nobleman" and "The Tyrant," Kim Seon-ho returns to romance acting after a long time. Asked to compare action and interpretation acting, he laughed and said, "There is no acting that is easy. But doing several languages simultaneously in one scene makes multilingual acting harder."
He added, "When shooting a scene I prepared a lot so it was okay, but after finishing and going into the next scene and speaking Korean I did worse. Youn-jung said she remembered me eating red ginseng in the corner during our first scene," he said sheepishly.
He said, "It wasn't to the extent of testing my ability. But I wanted to see things like gestures. One of the teachers works at an embassy, so we went together to places like Itaewon to learn. But I'm not the type to be outgoing in public, so I couldn't do that at all. If I could choose next time, I would do action," he said, drawing laughter.
"Is this love interpretable?" will be released as a 12-episode series on the 16th.
