ENHYPEN's mini seventh album 'THE SIN : VANISH' features actor Park Jeongmin, Dynamic Duo's Gaeko, and So!YoON! (Hwang So-yoon) of the band Se So Neon, drawing attention. The meeting of trendsetters and the experimental track composition that combines music and narrative promise to raise expectations.
ENHYPEN (Jeongwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Niki) on the 11th posted ''THE SIN : VANISH' Narration Preview' on the group's official YouTube channel. It is a video where listeners can preview parts of the narration tracks included on the album — 'The beginning of the incident,' 'The fugitives,' 'The voice we sought,' and 'Beyond the incident.'
This narration, which is also the voice of a program host reporting on a vampire escape case, was produced in four languages: Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese. It was arranged so that more global listeners could fully enjoy the album's emotional arc without language barriers.
Korean narration was provided by actor Park Jeongmin, who worked on it from the early stages of production. He conveyed the message "at last, they dream the forbidden dream of crossing the line they must not cross, defying the absolute rules of vampire society" in a low, calm voice, giving weight to the album's narrative. The Japanese narration was handled by local actor and voice actor Tsuda Kenjirō (津田健次), and the Chinese narration was handled by popular singer Huang Zihongfan (子弘凡, Lars Huang).
According to Belift Lab Inc., 'THE SIN : VANISH' contains a total of 11 tracks, including four narration tracks, one skit (SKIT·situational drama) and six songs. As a concept album whose lyrics and sounds of all tracks mesh organically, its narrative unfolds by adopting the format of an investigative program called 'Mystery Show' that tracks an unprecedented vampire lovers' escape case.
The six songs are also tightly connected, following the flow of the story. First, the opening track 'No Way Back (Feat. So!YoON!)' is a song that delicately depicts the complex psychology between the vampire's firm resolve to flee for love and their anxiety. So!YoON! (Hwang So-yoon) of the band Se So Neon is featured, adding a dreamy yet intense synergy.
The title track 'Knife' depicts the inner world of the lovers who became fugitives. Confidence in striking back at the pursuers' blades that uphold the rules of vampire society and a daringness that enjoys danger are reflected in the song, completing a dramatic narrative. Dynamic Duo's Gaeko was credited as a lyricist, further sharpening the song's color.
Next, 'Stealer,' which depicts the explosive adrenaline of fleeing with 'you,' and 'Big Girls Don't Cry,' which playfully soothes a partner anxious during the escape, show the lovers' psychological changes and draw the listener in. 'Lost Island' expresses the romantic moments when the lovers fall deeply for each other amid the chaotic escape.
And with the final track 'Sleep Tight,' the two lovers' escape journey comes to a close for now. This song calmly unravels the complex feelings between the short respite's happiness and unease found at the end of the flight, and it is ENHYPEN member Jake's first self-composed song. Heeseung also contributed to the lyrics.
