Comedian Lee Guk-ju made a tearful resolution as the new year began.
Lee Guk-ju uploaded a video titled "2026's first sunrise of the new year seen in Japan, everyone, happy new year" to her YouTube channel on the 12th.
Going to the sea to see the new year's sunrise, Lee Guk-ju said, "Somehow it feels different from when I went to see the sunrise in 2025. At that time it was a bit thrilling, and the start of 2026 feels more like becoming more solid than excitement. It feels like an age where I need to make more plans and think more carefully about what I'll do and move accordingly. So last year my mind was very unsettled," she confessed.
Lee Guk-ju said, "How should I live? With what mindset should I live? What plans should I make? It was a somewhat ambiguous year. It was particularly hard. Because of that, I made resolutions. 'I will live like this with this mindset, and live with these goals.' I kind of made that promise, so when I came to see the sunrise before, it was pure excitement like 'will the sun rise or not,' but this time it's more of a determination."
She went on, "I'll do it. From now on I will move like this. I will live like this. I will do it like this. I think I came to tell that to the sun. That thing won't spread rumors anyway. It feels like it will listen to me, right?" and added, "So this year I will work harder, and there's a saying 'do not fear failure,' isn't there. That seems like something you say in your 20s, and I'm afraid of failure. So I will live to avoid failing," she vowed.
Finally, she said, "I failed a lot in 2025. Just thinking about the people I hurt and grew apart from, counting those alone makes several failures. How many programs have disappeared? Yes, by that measure there are too many failures. I will get through things smartly without failing," she pledged.
