The final winner of '흑백요리사2' was White Spoon Choi Kang-rok.
In the finale of the Netflix variety show Culinary Class Wars: culinary class wars 2, released on the 13th, scenes were shown of White Spoon Choi Kang-rok and Black Spoon Lee Ha-sung (Culinary Monster) competing in the final.
That day, Culinary Monster defeated White Spoon Hou Deok-juk to be selected as a finalist. Judges Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae gave slightly more points for Culinary Monster's creativity and selected him as the final finalist.
The final's theme was "the one dish only for me," and the point of this final was that chefs who always cooked for others had to make the best dish just for themselves. For this, Culinary Monster made sundae-guk and Choi Kang-rok made sesame tofu to submit to the judges.
Both judges unanimously chose Choi Kang-rok's dish as the winning food. The season 2 winner came from the White Spoon side. Choi Kang-rok said he was not someone who makes outstanding food, but someone doing the same work as chefs who quietly work around the country. He said he would hold the words he received here in his heart, cherish the connections he made here, and live thinking more diligently about food.
'흑백요리사2' received praise for erasing the various controversies that arose in the previous season. Problems such as team members responsible for prep being eliminated first due to repeated team battles, challengers having difficulty sourcing ingredients domestically, and the most controversial elimination rules were all improved in season 2.
Accordingly, after the black-and-white showdown in season 1, the team battles "All or Nothing", the "black-and-white alliance battle", and the "one-on-one death match" brought quick immersion and received strong responses.
However, it was a flaw that the production team themselves generated spoilers and removed the thrill. Ahead of the top 7 decider, in episodes 8, 9 and 10 released last month, scenes of Culinary Monster being interviewed by the production team exposed his real name, Lee Ha-sung. Due to the nature of the program, the names of Black Spoon chefs can only be revealed after they advance to the final. This meant the production team's editing mistake effectively revealed that "Culinary Monster" had advanced to the final.
Especially among the spoilers that poured out with the start of season 2 was one saying that, as in season 1, a black-and-white showdown would occur in this season's finale, with White Spoon Choi Kang-rok facing Black Spoon Culinary Monster. It also revealed that Choi Kang-rok would be selected as the final winner.
This spoiler was not widely noted at first. Choi Kang-rok appeared not as a simple White Spoon but as a "hidden White Spoon," meaning he could advance to the next round only with the unanimous consent of both judges, and because several others were also named in the winner lineup, it tended to be treated as a passing rumor.
But when Culinary Monster's name was revealed, the spoiler rapidly resurfaced. Even when only the results announcement for Son Jong-won and Culinary Monster remained at the end of episode 10, the spoiler made Culinary Monster's advancement seem certain, and when only the results announcement for Hou Deok-juk and Culinary Monster remained at the end of episode 12, people assumed Culinary Monster would advance as scheduled, causing the tension to drop.
The final was the same. With the start of the finale and Culinary Monster becoming a finalist, viewers again felt it was inevitable that "Choi Kang-rok will win," leaving no choice but to watch the program. The lost tension of the final episode of '흑백요리사2' leaves regret as the excitement faded until the end.
Meanwhile, Netflix's Culinary Class Wars: culinary class wars 2 is a program that captures a fierce culinary class war between Black Spoon chefs, underground masters trying to overturn class by taste, and the country's top star chefs, the White Spoon, who try to protect it.
