Actor Park Shinhye spoke about the efforts she made to portray a 20-year-old.
On the afternoon of the 12th at The L.I.N.C Hotel in Sindorim, Guro District, Seoul, a production presentation for the tvN new Saturday-Sunday drama Undercover Miss Hong was held, attended by director Park Sun-ho and actors Park Shinhye, Ha Yoon-Kyung, Cho Han-gyeol, among others, who discussed the work.
tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama Undercover Miss Hong (directed by Park Sun-ho / written by Moon Hyun-kyung / planned by Studio Dragon / produced by Celltrion Entertainment, Studio Dragon) is a retro office comedy drama set in the late 1990s about 30-year-old elite securities inspector Hong Geum-bo (played by Park Shinhye) who goes undercover as a 20-year-old junior employee at a securities firm where suspicious funds have been detected and the ensuing comic chaos.
Park Shinhye said about the efforts she made to portray a 20-year-old, "I felt a lot of pressure. I debuted when I was young, so many viewers know what I looked like at 20. Time is inevitable. To create a gap, I paid attention to hairstyle and costumes."
She continued, "Even if my face looks older, I give distinctions with costumes and hair and then insist on it in practice. Even though my face looks older, I insist that I'm 20 and play it that way. Thirty-five-year-old Hong Geum-bo was styled with straight hair and a three-piece suit that looked like a career woman, whereas 20-year-old Hong Jang-mi had looks like H.O.T.'s candy style, such as hip-hop pants or oversized shirts, a bob with curls, and many hairpins. The acting also has a big difference in tone; I tried to make differences in speech and line delivery. But when unavoidable work moments come up, you will see through the show that although the exterior is Hong Jang-mi, the interior is Hong Geum-bo at work."
Meanwhile, Undercover Miss Hong will premiere on the 17th at 9:10 p.m.
