Comedian Heo Anna shared an update about her struggles pursuing her dream of becoming an actor.
On the 11th, a video titled "[Life of a comedian] comedian Heo Anna" was uploaded to Im Seong-wook's YouTube channel.
That day, when asked about her schedule today, Heo Anna explained, "First I went to an acting academy, and then I have profiles to submit. There are profiles I hand-deliver. I have to submit them in the Gangnam area, so I'll submit them there, go home and then submit profiles again."
When he asked, "So you are active more as an actor than a comedian?", she said, "But I'm originally from comedy. Honestly, I think comedians and actors are separated. I have a dream to combine them into one. People like Jim Carrey and Robin Williams started as comedians and did both comedy and acting, didn't they? There's no need to do only one thing," adding, "But I'm not good at either," she admitted frankly.
After finishing preparations to go out, Heo Anna moved to an acting academy in Daechi-dong and took a class. After class ended, Heo Anna appeared holding a lottery ticket in her hand, and she said, "Actually, I hope I become a lotto winner rather than an actor." Im Seong-wook said, "I bought one for you too," and Heo Anna said, "Honestly, if this wins, let's split it 70-30. I get 70, you get 30," drawing laughter.
He continued, "I go deliver audition profiles in person. I printed profiles. There are typos but I was too lazy to fix them. Most places have only a PO box and no person. I just submit to those places and leave. Since it's Gangnam today, I'll submit while I'm here," he said.
Im Seong-wook asked, "In a way, you're a job seeker right now," and Heo Anna expressed her passion, "That's right. I'm looking for a job and struggling. If anyone calls me anywhere, I'll do my best."
When he asked, "If someone contacts you after submitting profiles, do you go to auditions?", she confessed, "Yes. But I haven't received any contact yet." Heo Anna, who said it has been two months since she started submitting profiles, said, "It hasn't been long. Whenever there's an audition I just go and submit. I'm trying it."
Im Seong-wook exclaimed, "If it's been about two months, you've probably submitted profiles more than 100 times," and Heo Anna replied, "Not that many, maybe about 15?" then joked, "It's a thousand. I submitted to a thousand places and got rejected by a thousand places," drawing laughter. Im Seong-wook promised, "If you get cast, let me know. Then you'll come to the life of an actor," and Heo Anna conveyed the reality of being a job seeker, "But really, all I can do is wait. Mostly I wait."
Meanwhile, Heo Anna recently announced she would appear on MBC's new variety show "I'm excited too" with Park Narae, Shin Gi-ru, and Jang Do-youn. "I'm excited too" was scheduled to air in Jan. and filming had already finished and a teaser had been released, but its scheduling was canceled amid backlash over Park Narae's power abuse and the "aunt injections" controversy.
