Broadcaster Park Narae's 'power harassment controversy' remains a hot topic. Silence, rather than additional explanation or an immediate rebuttal, is changing the momentum. Whether that silence can cover all the allegations is still uncertain.
The turning point of the controversy was a recently released call recording. In the early morning of the 8th last month, part of a call between Park Narae and former manager A was released on a YouTube channel. The time was about 1:40 a.m. The conversation in the recording differed in tone from the previously raised 'power harasser-victim' narrative.
A said, "I don't know why it came to this," and "I didn't want it to go this far," pouring out emotions, and Park Narae also choked up and could not continue speaking. The focus of the conversation was on worrying about each other's condition rather than assigning blame. They mentioned pets and family well-being, health and lifestyle habits, revealing the density of their relationship. In particular, A's remark, "You are my love, sister," left an impression different from the earlier allegations.
After this conversation, Park Narae posted on social media that she had "resolved misunderstandings with former managers" and announced a suspension of activities. But that afternoon the situation changed. A's side reversed its position, saying "there was no substantial apology or agreement," and continued to raise issues through broadcasts and interviews. In just a few hours, the feelings of dawn led to choices at odds with the daytime judgment.
At this point, attention has returned to Park Narae's response. She chose silence after a 'final statement' rather than issuing further comments. Meanwhile, gaps between the former manager's claims and the recording, and conflicting explanations over salary·career·the handling of the four major insurances have emerged one by one, and public opinion is no longer flowing in a single direction as before.
But silence does not automatically mean exoneration. Separate from the power harassment controversy, allegations of illegal procedures and proxy prescriptions involving the figure known as the so-called "injection aunt" are under investigation. The police have announced they will question related parties over charges including unlicensed medical practice, and Park Narae is also expected to be investigated soon.
Currently, the former manager's side is pursuing criminal charges and civil damages, and Park Narae's side has filed a counterclaim alleging attempted extortion, among other charges. The conflict has already moved from the realm of emotions into the realm of law. Separate from personal relationships or feelings, legal judgments are expected to be made based on the facts.
The recently released recording has in part lowered the temperature of public opinion. However, it cannot substitute for the conclusion of the case. Whether Park Narae's silence was "The Divine Move" or merely a choice to postpone judgment will be revealed by the results of future investigations.
