Comedian Park Narae has suspended activities amid allegations of power abuse involving former managers and a series of revelations, and public opinion is once again roiling after an audio recording related to the so-called "dawn meeting" was released. With the recording released, questions have arisen about the credibility of the previous allegations.
On the 9th a YouTube channel released a video titled "Shocking exclusive! Park Narae power-abuse controversy recording obtained…the reality of the 500 million won settlement." The video contained what is presumed to be telephone conversation content between Park Narae and former manager A.
In the released recording, A, with tears, said, "I don't know why it came to this," expressing concern for Park Narae, and showed a relatively friendly attitude, asking about the health of the pet dog, "Did you go to the hospital because of heartworm?" When it was mentioned that Park Narae smoked, A scolded her, saying, "Are you trying to have throat surgery again? Why are you smoking?" In particular, the remark "Her mother can't sleep either, what should we do" followed, giving the nuance of worrying about Park Narae's family. A cried out, "Sister is my love," while worrying about Park Narae.
The call is reported to have taken place the day before Park Narae posted on her personal social media that she had "cleared up misunderstandings" with the former managers with whom she was in dispute. At the time Park Narae said, "Two managers who lived like family suddenly resigned, and until recently there was no opportunity to talk with the parties involved, so misunderstandings built up," and declared she would suspend activities, saying, "With the help of many people I faced the former managers, and while misunderstandings and distrust were cleared up, I think it was all my fault and I am deeply reflecting on it."
However, the former managers drew a line, saying that while calls and meetings did occur, they did not reach an agreement. The conflict ultimately led to legal action, and the friendly atmosphere revealed in the recording, unlike the managers' previous stance that "it was not a reconciliation," caused public confusion.
Accordingly, voices are calling for the facts of the various allegations against Park Narae to be rechecked. Previously the former managers alleged verbal abuse, assault, 24-hour standby and other power-abuse damages, and claimed that wages and severance pay differed from verbal terms and that settlement payments were not made.
On the other hand, counterarguments were raised that A's official career was not clearly verified or that the choice to receive income in the form of business income rather than earned income was A's own decision. There is also a claim that Park Narae's advertising agency fees were deposited into a personal corporation under A's name, so the matter is expected to lead to a full legal battle over the truth in court.
However, it has not yet been clearly explained that the former managers demanded enrollment in the four major social insurances starting in September last year but were not accepted, the claim that Park Narae's mother and ex-boyfriend were enrolled in the four major insurances without actual work, the suspicion that Park Narae's single-person agency was not registered as a popular culture and arts planning business, and the allegation of illegal medical procedures through an "injection aunt."
