(Following interview ③) Actress Pyo Ye-jin candidly shared her thoughts on "Taxi Driver season 4."
Recently, Pyo Ye-jin conducted an end-of-series interview for the SBS Friday-Saturday drama "Taxi Driver 3" at a café in Gangnam District, Seoul.
"Taxi Driver 3" is a private revenge agency drama in which the mysterious taxi company Rainbow Transportation and taxi driver Kim Do-gi (Lee Je-hoon) complete revenge on behalf of wronged victims. In the show, Pyo Ye-jin plays the accounting department employee An Go-eun of "Rainbow Transportation."
Starting with season 1, which first aired on Jan. 2021, Pyo Ye-jin, who has appeared in the "Taxi Driver" series for five years, when asked about the pros and cons of a seasonal drama said, "Of course, if 'Taxi Driver 3' hadn't existed, I might have done other projects. But getting to season 3 in the first place is not easy. I really love the show, and there might not be another opportunity for all the members to work together. So naturally, I welcomed season 3 very happily. It was an especially precious season for me. And it's not like I only did 'Taxi Driver' during that time. I also did romantic comedies and historical dramas in between. I stayed as Go-eun for a long time, but I also took on other challenges in between, so I think I spent the time meaningfully and well," she reflected.
She explained why this season was "especially more precious," saying, "Just reaching season 3 is an amazing thing, and honestly we've never seen season 4. Even season 3 alone is a big deal, so I wondered, 'No matter how much it's loved, is a season 4 realistically possible?' Even if this season ends, I thought we should enjoy being on set with such wonderful people. We don't know when this moment will come again. That's why it was precious."
Viewers who have loved the "Taxi Driver" series were also anxious, worried that season 3 might be the last. Fortunately, it ended with an open ending that leaves room for a future season rather than a tightly closed finale, but on the possibility of season 4 production, Pyo Ye-jin honestly said, "I haven't heard anything yet."
When asked if she would appear if offered a role in season 4, she replied immediately, "If such an opportunity comes, of course I would do it," and added, "Everyone has many practical concerns. There are realistic issues beyond our control, so while we wondered, 'Would it be possible? It might be difficult,' the actors also talked about how 'it would be wonderful if it happened.' And first of all, our members have become so precious to each other that we were very sad at the thought that the moment of being together again might never come."
She continued, "It had never happened before, but on the last day of filming the older brothers finished their morning shoots first yet couldn't leave and lingered for a long time. That made me feel very strange too. On the last day, only the lead and the supervisors (Jang Hyuk-jin, Bae Yu Ram) and I had night shoots, and Lee Je-hoon oppa and senior actor Kim Eui-sung's shoots ended earlier. But they followed us to the next location to say goodbye, took group photos and said, 'This taxi company is over..' They were so regretful that they couldn't take a step. Later we told them, 'Now go!' and sent them off. I somehow felt very sad and a little bittersweet," she said, sharing her mixed feelings.
When asked how she hoped viewers would perceive the final episode of "Taxi Driver 3," she left a lingering note, "It ends with an open ending rather than what many worry about. I like that it ends on an open note. I hope people remember that Rainbow Transportation is out there somewhere doing something."
