Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence candidly expressed her feelings recalling a role that went to her close friend and fellow actor Emma Stone.
On the 7th (local time), Jennifer Lawrence attended a Q&A event with entertainment journalist Josh Horowitz at the 92NY Kaufmann Concert Hall in New York, where she revealed the role she coveted early in her career.
That day Lawrence said, "Early on there was one role I really wanted but Emma took. It was the movie "Easy A,"" she confessed. She joked, "I was completely obsessed with that project. Wasn't I supposed to have gotten it?" and then laughed, "Still, the film turned out really great."
Lawrence went on to share an anecdote that revealed the pair's enduring friendship. She said that recently Emma Stone was nominated for a SAG Award for the film "Boggonia," while she herself was not nominated for the film "Die My Love," adding, "In the group chat everyone was like, 'Congrats Emma!' but I just sent a sad emoji."
She added, "When Emma was about to say something I joked, 'Why aren't you apologizing? If you can say something you should apologize, right?'" showcasing her characteristic playful wit. Still, she added sincere respect, saying, "It's a joke, but in truth Emma has been beating me for decades. Still, that's an honor."
That day Lawrence also reflected on her early days as an actor. She said, "I never had formal acting classes or training, so in the early auditions I was basically self-taught," and confessed, "Looking back now there were really embarrassing moments."
She recalled one audition anecdote in particular: "I thought it was an outdoor scene so I covered half my face with my hand while acting, and the production team said, 'Cut, why are you doing that?' I thought it was realistic acting but they told me, 'Take your hand away!'" which drew laughter. She added, "Honestly I was terrible at auditions. Still, sometimes I got callbacks."
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are same-age stars who represent Hollywood and have long been friends, known for supporting each other's success with humor and respect.
