Comedian Kim Min-gyeong challenges herself to a rabbit meat mukbang.
On the 11th at 7:50 p.m., TV CHOSUN's 'Sikkak Heo Yeongman's baekbangihaeng' will air the second chapter of the Quebec City gourmet trip that continued from last week. Together with Kim Min-gyeong, it generously introduces the bounty of flavors Quebec City holds.
That day, Kim Min-gyeong and the diner return to Petit Champlain Street following the first day. The place they visit is an old restaurant that opened in 1988 and has stood for a full 37 years. It sells soul food that locals rely on for sustenance, and that specialty is rabbit. There, both the diner and 'muk-bang general' Kim Min-gyeong taste rabbit dishes for the first time in their lives. From minced rabbit meat to croquettes to roasted rabbit legs, amid the diverse variations of rabbit dishes the two continue an unstoppable mukbang that belies their worries. The local owner, who had only heard rumors of K-mukbang(?), reportedly could not stop marveling at what he witnessed in person.
Leaving the city, they head to a nearby indigenous community of Quebec City, 'Wendake.' This village has carried on Huron-Wendat traditions and life for more than 400 years. The diner and Kim Min-gyeong enter the indigenous people's communal longhouse and repeatedly express amazement, and by tasting the hunting-and-gathering-based dishes of the indigenous people they embark on a time journey 400 years into the past. Dishes using regional ingredients such as venison, smoked salmon, wild birds, squash and corn preserve tradition while being reinterpreted with a modern sensibility to offer a unique gourmet experience. The table, imbued with the lives and wisdom of indigenous people who have coexisted with nature, can be seen on the broadcast.
The trip concludes at a hotel that is a landmark symbolizing Quebec City. Overlooking the Saint Lawrence River with an overwhelming view, this hotel, which holds long history and dignity, embodies Quebec City's past and present. There, they taste an authentic French-based luxury tasting menu centered on seasonal ingredients from the Quebec region. While using familiar ingredients such as scallops, mussels, lamb, beef and apples with delicate plating, each dish conveyed deep flavors, reportedly drawing admiration from the diner and Kim Min-gyeong.
