Broadcaster Ro Hong-chul struck it rich in real estate.
On the 10th, real estate industry sources said the estimated value of the building Ro Hong-chul owns in Apgujeong-dong is about 23.6 billion won. That resulted in a market price gain of more than 11 billion won.
Ro Hong-chul purchased the building on Apgujeong-ro near Apgujeong Station in Gangnam District, Seoul, in November 2018 for 12.2 billion won. Including acquisition tax, legal fees and brokerage commissions, the total is about 12.9 billion won. Thus, about 11.4 billion won in market price gain occurred seven years after purchase.
The building was completed in 1988 and has basement level 1 through five aboveground floors with a total floor area of 1,368.60 square meters (414 pyeong). Ro Hong-chul carried out remodeling after purchase.
The building is currently known to house a café, an English academy, an acting academy and a soccer school.
Earlier, Ro Hong-chul sold a building in Haebangchon in 2016 and gained 700 million won in market price.
Meanwhile, Ro Hong-chul runs a bookstore and a YouTube channel.
