Former basketball player and actor Oh Seung-hwan shared an update on his condition.
On the 9th, a video titled "the best choice that changed my life in an instant" was posted on the YouTube channel "WeeRacle."
Oh Seung-hwan introduced a live creator on TikTok named Uni and said, "I used to work as an actor and model, but now I use a wheelchair and work as a live creator on TikTok."
Oh Seung-hwan, who said he has been using a wheelchair for about six years, explained, "It was winter. After finishing work and on my way home, I fell near a flowerbed inside an apartment complex. Because at that time there were many icy roads. I fell backward onto the back of my neck. After getting injured, the direction of my life changed a lot."
Oh Seung-hwan said, "I injured the fifth and sixth cervical vertebrae. I generally did not post videos showing me in a wheelchair. I was worried people would see my pain and say, 'he's using his illness to do broadcasts.' I avoided that and proceeded with broadcasts without showing it."
He continued, "I played basketball for about seven years. I remember that after I quit sports I worked very hard preparing for acting, but after the injury I felt everything had collapsed. It was hard after getting hurt. For about six months to a year after the injury I felt disconnected from the world and said nothing, just kept thinking to myself, 'Can I live like this?'"
Oh Seung-hwan, who said he did not work hard on rehabilitation immediately after the injury, said, "My mother and father gave me a lot of courage. They told me that if I was going to keep living my life, I should not give up and should try as far as I can, so from then on I didn't sleep and worked hard on rehabilitation continuously."
