Actor Kim Seong-hwan for the first time detailed the behind-the-scenes story of a 1 billion won debt tied to the late Song Daekwan. Behind what was known as a good deed lay burdens and responsibilities that were by no means light.
On the 9th, the YouTube channel "Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life" released an episode featuring Kim Seong-hwan as a guest, where he honestly recounted memories of the deceased and the situation at the time. Song Seung-hwan said, "I heard that senior Song Daekwan was struggling financially when hyung lent him a large sum," and added, "That much shows hyung is a good person, and luck seems to follow him."
In fact, Kim Seong-hwan once lent Song Daekwan as much as 1 billion won. While alive, Song Daekwan also said on broadcast, "Before my wife caused trouble, I really couldn't handle it alone. I told Kim Seong-hwan 'I'm going to die.' Even among blood brothers, there was no one I could tell that I needed 1 billion," expressing deep gratitude.
Regarding this, Kim Seong-hwan recalled, "At first I was so surprised, but I felt I had to help no matter what." He confessed, "It's all in the past, but I told hyung, 'Never talk about this on broadcast,'" and added, "I disliked empty praise, and above all, that money wasn't my money."
Kim Seong-hwan said, "Where would I have raised such a large sum? The people who trusted me gathered the money with difficulty and lent it. I took responsibility for that," and added, "So I was even more careful."
But after Song Daekwan expressed his gratitude on broadcast, the situation changed. Kim Seong-hwan said, "After that story aired, calls started coming from everywhere asking to borrow money," and added bitterly, "When people are in a hurry, they seem to remember that 'Kim Seong-hwan lent money to someone.'"
He went on, "It was done with good intentions, but it turned into another burden. When you cannot lend, you must also bear the other person's disappointment and feelings," and added, "There were many very difficult and painful moments."
