Gisele Bündchen's family members are concerned about her decision to marry Joaquim Valente, the father of her child and a jiu-jitsu instructor.
On the 9th (local time), U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six reported that a source said, "Her family warned that it would be a mistake for Gisele, who has millions of dollars in assets, to marry a man who is essentially penniless."
Valente is a jiu-jitsu trainer with famous clients and runs an academy in Miami with his brothers, but the family views him as not measuring up to Gisele's global fame and level of wealth.
Brazilian top model Gisele Bündchen has been named one of the world's highest-earning supermodels several times, and according to CelebrityWorth.com, her assets total about $400 million (about 500 billion won).
A source explained, "The family told her to just live together. But with Valente's pressure and Gisele's traditional values intertwined, and since they now have a child, she seems to have felt that getting married is the right thing to do."
The two had a son in February last year and quietly held a wedding in November of that year. At the time another source said, "They are so happy to finally be married after having a child together."
The two signed a prenuptial agreement, but it is said not to be as comprehensive a protection measure as the family had hoped. A source said, "There is a prenuptial agreement, but there are some loopholes that are structured so Valente could receive financial compensation in the event of a divorce."
In 2000 Gisele signed a $25 million (five-year) contract with Victoria's Secret, then the largest in history, and she has appeared as an advertising model for numerous global brands including Chanel, Pantene, Under Armour, Apple, and IWC. She has also held equity in lingerie and sandal brands.
Gisele is known for her close family ties. She maintains close relationships with her father, Vladimir, and her five sisters (Raquel, Graziela, Gabriela, Rafaela, and twin Patricia). In a 2023 interview with People, she said, "My family is everything to me, and my sisters are my closest friends even when we sometimes disagree."
Gisele's mother, Vania, died at age 75 in January 2024 after battling cancer.
Gisele divorced NFL star Tom Brady in 2022, and the two have a 16-year-old son, Benjamin, and a 13-year-old daughter, VIVIEN.
