Actor Song Seung-hwan reported recent news that he has maintained remarkable golf skills even after his eyesight worsened significantly, causing a stir in the studio.
On the 10th broadcast of MBN 'Kim Ju-ha's Day & Night', Song Seung-hwan revealed an unexpected episode he experienced after being diagnosed with level 4 visual impairment. He surprised the cast by saying, "The first thing I did after being diagnosed with level 4 visual impairment was a hole-in-one."
Anchor Kim Ju-ha responded that she found it hard to believe, saying, "I read the article and wondered, 'Is this even possible?'" However, Song Seung-hwan added, "Earlier this year when I went to Bangkok, I made another hole-in-one," surprising everyone once again.
Song Seung-hwan calmly explained his approach to golf. He said, "The ball doesn't appear clearly and is blurry," but added, "Golf is ultimately a sport where the club head just has to pass the ball accurately." He went on, "I aim well and hit, and I don't do head-up. Even if I look, I can't see well, so I just look at the ball and hit it."
He vividly recounted the scene. Song Seung-hwan laughed, "I hit the ball and people nearby were like, 'Ooooh' and then said it went in," and joked, "After my eyesight worsened, golf seems to have actually become a bit better," bringing laughter to the studio.
Earlier, Song Seung-hwan had revealed that due to macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa he currently can only see people's outlines and shapes. Nevertheless, his enjoying the theater stage as well as everyday sports in his own way left a deep impression.
