Dr. Oh Eun-young expressed concern that adolescent self-harm is currently a very serious problem and is spreading like a trend. She went on to say that if it is repeated more than five times a year it is judged as self-harm and explained that this is not simple defiance but can be a way for the child to express psychological pain.
Dr. Oh said it appears the child applied to appear to ask for help herself and emphasized that they must look together at what the most fundamental psychological pain is and whether there are any other reasons. She added there is no behavior without a reason.
