Actor Kwon Sang Woo showed special affection for his son, Rook-hee.
On the evening of the 9th, Kwon Sang Woo appeared as a guest on SBS' News Hunters. He took part in an interview with the News Hunters anchors to promote his upcoming new film, Heartman.
Kwon Sang Woo married actress Son Tae-young in 2008 and has one son and one daughter. In particular, his eldest son, Kwon Rook-hee, is studying in the United States, and his tall height and sturdy build, resembling his father, have drawn praise for evoking a high‑teen romance.
What kind of father is Kwon Sang Woo to such a son? Kwon Sang Woo said, "My son once said something. I don't know what he was watching, but he said, 'Hitman is more fun than Extreme Job,' and then left. In a way, that one line sounded like 'I love you, dad.'" He added, "At the time, I was moved because it was something my son said as he passed by. Thinking that my son was quietly watching my work, I wanted to work harder and do my best."
Buoyed by his son's encouragement, Kwon Sang Woo has continued to present works without rest. Coincidentally, starting with the film Hitman, which was released in January 2020, he met audiences with Pirates: The Goblin Flag in January 2022, Switch in January 2023, and Hitman 2 in January last year. In this context, Kwon Sang Woo compared a famous line from the drama Heaven's Stairway, "Love comes back," saying, "I want to say, 'Sang‑woo is coming back.' The actor Kwon Sang Woo, who is a box‑office draw every January, is coming back. Somehow it turned out that way, and I want to keep coming back."
Kwon Sang Woo's new film, Heartman (director Choi Won-seop, produced by Movirak·Like M Company, provided/distributed by Lotte Entertainment), is a comedy about Seung-min (Kwon Sang Woo), a man who has returned and struggles to hold on to the first love he meets again, but a secret he can never tell her arises. It is scheduled to open on the 14th.<
