"Kkokkomu" revealed a surprising look at the past of the fan lady.

Broadcaster Park So-hyun's behind-the-scenes story of the "fan lady," which drew attention with a peak rating of 31% on SBS's Scene Captured: Unbelievable Stories where she served as MC for 27 years, was revealed.
The late Han Hye-kyung, known as the "fan lady," was a figure who once performed under the stage name "Han Mi-ok." She repeatedly underwent illegal cosmetic surgeries in her desire to become a more intense and charismatic singer, which resulted in severe deformation of her face. She later experienced auditory and visual hallucinations and reached an extreme situation in which she injected industrial silicone, paraffin oil and soybean oil into her own face.
Unable to work, she lived as a basic living benefit recipient and depended on subsidies. Above all, what was hardest to endure was "loneliness." Because of the relentless stares, it was not even easy to go out, and it was reported that she spent more time with her pet dog than with people.
After the broadcast, the biggest task was finding a hospital and medical staff to perform reconstructive surgery. While many medical professionals expressed reluctance, a plastic surgeon with 25 years of experience offered help, and the surgery was carried out. On the day of the operation, a major surgery with multiple medical staff took place, and as a significant amount of foreign substances accumulated around the neck were removed, her face appeared noticeably smaller, offering hope.
However, on the road to recovery Han Hye-kyung suffered the shock of losing her mother. The fact that she ultimately could not show her mother the appearance after finishing all treatment left deep sorrow.
She later suddenly passed away in December 2018 at the age of 57. The exact cause of death was not disclosed, and the funeral was reportedly held quietly under the guidance of relatives.
Her life after the high-profile broadcast shows both the dangers of illegal cosmetic surgery and the isolation and recovery journey a person had to endure. Her once-beautiful face in life, the hope regained through major surgery, and the eventual reported death still leave many with a heavy question.
