Actor the late Ahn Sung-ki's son, Ahn Da-bin, released a letter his father wrote while alive. Ahn Sung-ki told his son, "Do not forget that what is truly unchangeably necessary in this world is a good person."
Ahn stated accordingly as he delivered remarks on behalf of the bereaved family at the funeral mass for the deceased held at Myeongdong Cathedral in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 9th. Ahn said, "I don't remember it, but there was a letter my father wrote to me when I was five," and read the letter aloud.
Ahn Sung-ki told his son, "I hope you will always be humble, honest, and broad-minded," adding, "You must do your best at your work and be someone who can govern failure and sorrow with peace of mind. Also, you must not lose ambition and courage, and if you challenge yourself endlessly, the way forward will become clear."
He also said, "Always be glad that you have your younger brother, Philip, and become an older brother who can pray for him," adding, "Do not forget that what is truly unchangeably necessary in this world is a good person. Dad, 1993."
Meanwhile, Ahn Sung-ki died at 9 a.m. on the 5th. He was 74. On Dec. 30 last year, he was transported to the emergency room at Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Seoul in cardiac arrest and had been treated in the intensive care unit. The wake was then set up at the funeral hall of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. The cremation will take place at Seoul Memorial Park, and he will be laid to rest at Byeolgeurida in Yangpyeong.
