Actor Jeon Jong-seo described her close friend Han So-hee as an "actor friend who suddenly showed up."
On the 9th at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview with actor Jeon Jong-seo about the movie "Project Y" (provided by Plus M Entertainment, Pencher Invest Co., distributed by Plus M Entertainment, planned by WOWPOINT, Climax Studio, produced by Climax Studio, WOWPOINT | co-produced by Plus M Entertainment) was held.
The movie "Project Y" is a work that depicts the story of Miseon and Dogyung, who dreamed of a different tomorrow while living in the midst of a glamorous city, and at the edge of their lives stole black money and gold bullion, and it opens on Jan. 21.
Interest was already high simply because Jeon Jong-seo and Han So-hee met, and when asked if she felt that, Jeon Jong-seo recalled the first proposal, saying, "Somehow I received the script offer during a time when I felt like people weren't coming to theaters and things were paralyzed, and I thought that if I tried this and if So-hee and I did it, maybe we could create something with passionate emotion."
She said, "The script logline had something that really grabbed my interest. So I think I tried it. Even though it was a difficult time for movies, I think I tried it, and after it opens the public will judge, and although it will receive cold evaluations, I have the mindset to accept both the whip and the carrot sweetly."
When asked whether she would have chosen this work even if Han So-hee had not been offered the role, she said, "I don't know. Yesterday So-hee used the word 'sijeolinyeon' in an interview, and it felt like this script came to both So-hee and me at this age like fate. I thought it might be hard to do a work with an actor of the same age, and I wondered if there would be a chance to do that. After doing it, it felt even more that way, so I think it's a rare thing."
How was the chemistry with Han So-hee? Jeon Jong-seo said, "So-hee was an actor friend who suddenly showed up, so I learned about her out of the blue. I didn't know we'd end up working together. Surprisingly down-to-earth and professional, and what I felt while acting together was that it was physically very demanding."
She said, "This work had to be done that way, and we shot it under harsh conditions with little time and day and night turned around. She was a partner who suffered with me and like a decalcomania, and feeling that she was quietly there made me feel we suffered together so it wasn't just me, and because this was the first work where I felt that, it naturally became a source of strength."
While the expression "a friend who suddenly showed up" was unconventional, Jeon Jong-seo said, "The first time I got to know So-hee was when I received a DM on Instagram. So we started talking. I vaguely remember calling her name, I think," adding, "I used to get DMs from actresses or celebrities often. I think I was the first to reply to So-hee. The conversation continued naturally. We met at my house. We met privately at my home."
In particular, Jeon Jong-seo said, "Working and acting in this field, when there is something you have to explain a lot to friends who have ordinary jobs outside this field, I feel there are things you don't have to explain to someone who is an actor. In that regard, I think there was a shared understanding without having to say things."
Jeon Jong-seo, who said there were no mismatches in the work, said, "I don't think I felt any mismatched parts. I think we're both the cautious type, and even if there were such things, I think we're both the type to talk about them. If something was uncomfortable on set or in those parts, we'd say sorry. Expressing it like this, huh? X huh? X, and because we're both easygoing we probably shot like that."
When asked whether director Lee Chung-hyun, who is publicly dating one of them, would be jealous of their relationship, Jeon Jong-seo laughed and said, "Director Lee Chung-hyun... seems to support all of my human relationships well."
