Actor Jung Woosung, Lee Jung-jae and Sul Kyung-gu, Park Cheol-min, Yoo Ji-tae, Park Hae-il, Cho Woo-jin and Ju Jihoon see off their senior Ahn Sung-ki for the last time.
On the 8th, Artist Company told OSEN that at Ahn Sung-ki's funeral to be held on the 9th, Artist Company head Jung Woosung and Lee Jung-jae will each carry the portrait and the medal, and the funeral procession will be led not by actor Lee Byung-hun, who was originally reported to participate, but by Sul Kyung-gu, Park Cheol-min, Yoo Ji-tae, Park Hae-il, Cho Woo-jin and Ju Jihoon, the company said in an official statement.
Ahn Sung-ki died at the age of 74 at 9 a.m. on the 5th while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Yongsan District, Seoul, with family members by his side. It came six days after he was taken to the hospital unconscious on the 30th of last month after food became lodged in his throat at home. The funeral hall was set up in room 31 of the Seoul St. Marys Hospital funeral home, and the burial site is Byeolgeurida in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi.
In life he was loved as the "national actor," and in honor of the late actor's achievements the funeral was held as a funeral for film people organized by the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation and The Korea Film Actors Association. Honorary chairman Shin Young-kyun, director Bae Chang-ho, The Korea Film Actors Association chairman Lee Gap-seong, acting head of the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation Shin Eon-sik, and Korea Film Association chairman Yang Yun-ho served as four co-chairmen of the funeral committee.
The chief mourner was listed as his wife Oh So-young and their two sons. In particular, Jung Woosung and Lee Jung-jae, as heads of the late actors last agency, Artist Company, greeted visitors together. In addition, a mourning space for citizens was set up at the Seoul Cinema Center to honor the "national actor" for the last time.
On the 9th at 8 a.m., a funeral mass will be held at Myeongdong Cathedral in Jung District, Seoul, in keeping with the late mans wishes as a devout Catholic. A film industry funeral will then be held at the same location, where director Bae Chang-ho, a co-chair of the funeral committee, and actor Jung Woosung will deliver eulogies.
