YG Entertainment has continued meaningful efforts to close cultural gaps through ongoing sharing for patients with rare and intractable hearing loss.
YG Entertainment said on the 8th that the cumulative donation it delivered to Seoul National University Children's Hospital to support pediatric cochlear implant patients has exceeded 400 million won. Since starting the support program in 2023, it has consistently supported not only cochlear implant surgery costs but also treatment and rehabilitation for hearing-impaired children who face economic burdens and fall into gaps in government support.
In particular, YG focused on the reality that it is still difficult to fully enjoy music even after cochlear implant surgery. Even if surgery enables the hearing of sounds, there remain limitations in distinguishing pitch and timbre, making it still difficult to appreciate music or sing.
Accordingly, YG has expanded the scope of support to include music-based auditory rehabilitation research and program development in collaboration with Seoul National University Children's Hospital and brain science-based digital therapeutics developer Bell Therapeutics. Beyond sponsoring surgery costs, YG is the first domestic entertainment company to support the development of music rehabilitation programs.
In addition, the results of this music therapy research were presented at a total of six major domestic and international academic conferences, including the American Cochlear Implant Conference (CI2025) and the International Congress of Otorhinolaryngology (ICORL) hosted by the Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology. Having confirmed the possibility that music perception ability can be meaningfully improved through a music rehabilitation program, YG plans to continue cooperating to strengthen children's access to music.
Moreover, from 2026 YG will launch exchange programs in which patients and their caregivers can participate together to build bonds, as well as campaigns to help social understanding related to cochlear implants. Through activities that go beyond treatment and rehabilitation to include public awareness improvement, YG plans to maintain interest in pediatric cochlear implant patients.
