BTS has set another milestone on the domestic music site Melon.
The title track "Spring Day" from BTS's second studio album repackage YOU NEVER WALK ALONE ranked 77th on Melon's 2025 year-end chart. The song has appeared on the year-end chart for nine consecutive years since its release in February 2017, setting the record for the longest-running entry in the platform's year-end chart history. It is the result of being chosen by music fans over a long period, beyond the trends of a particular time. The lyrics that maintain empathy over time and the lyrical melody are cited as the reasons the song continues to be loved.
"Spring Day" is a song that holds symbolic records on Melon. It was the first on the platform to surpass 1 billion cumulative streams, and it also holds the record for the longest-running entry in Melon history, remaining on the daily chart for about seven years and 11 months after its release.
"Spring Day" is an alternative hip hop song that combines brit-rock sensibility and electronic sounds, with RM and Suga weaving personal experiences into the lyrics. RM also participated in composing the song's main melody. The warm message of waiting to meet a distant friend and not losing hope moved listeners' emotions around the world.
Last October, the U.S. music magazine Rolling Stone ranked "Spring Day" 37th on its list of the "100 Greatest Songs of the 20th Century." It is the highest ranking among Korean songs. At the time, the publication said, "The feelings of recovery and hope that bloom amid loss convey a transcendent resonance and led to BTS's global leap. This song shows the strong cohesion of their music."
Jungkook's first solo single "Seven (feat. Latto)" also ranked 60th on Melon's year-end chart. The song has entered the year-end chart for three consecutive years since its release in July 2023, continuing its long-term success.
Meanwhile, BTS will release their fifth studio album on March 20. It will be their first full-group comeback in about three years and nine months. The new record contains 14 tracks in total, and each track contains the emotions and concerns accumulated during their past journey.
