Actor Pierce Brosnan attended the UK gala screening of his new film "Giant," showcasing his enduring presence.
Brosnan appeared on the red carpet at the "Giant" UK gala screening at Picturehouse Central in London on the 7th (local time). That day he completed a more refined winter gentleman's look by pairing a classic black suit with a turtleneck knit. He finished the outfit with glossy shoes, presenting a textbook suit fit that belied his age of 71.
The film "Giant" is a biopic about legendary boxer Prince Naseem Hamed, and Brosnan plays Brendan Ingle, the Ireland-born trainer who led him to become a world champion. At the screening, the real-life Naseem Hamed attended in person and took photos with Brosnan, adding special meaning to the event.
In addition to Naseem Hamed, former boxer Johnny Nelson, actress Olivia Buckland-Craft, and Amir El-Masry, who plays the lead role of Naseem, attended the event and brightened the occasion.
Brosnan has drawn attention for completely shedding his former "007 James Bond" image for this role. He recently appeared on the BBC's "The One Show" and said, "This role required an external transformation," noting, "It took several hours just to apply special makeup, including a bald cap and a nose prosthetic."
He added, "Brendan was a showman. Naseem was the same. They had to capture the world's attention instantly, and they actually did it," and jokingly remarked about the iconic leopard tracksuit in the film, "I kept that outfit to the end."
"Giant" was produced with the participation of Sylvester Stallone, and Rowan Athale served as both director and screenwriter. The film follows the journey of a young man from the working-class neighborhoods of Sheffield, England, in the 1980s and '90s as he overcomes racism and prejudice to reach the top of the world.
Meanwhile, "Giant" is scheduled to be released in the U.K. and Ireland on Jan. 9. Global movie fans are focusing their expectations on Brosnan's latest transformative performance.
