On the 8th broadcast, SBS 'Tails of Tales (hereafter Kkokkomu)' focused on 'The lost name, Han Hye-kyung,' and highlighted the life of the late Han Hye-kyung, who had been known to the public as the 'fan aunt.' The broadcast delivered a deep resonance by showing not only the shocking aftermath of illegal plastic surgery but also the previously unknown inner life and decision-making process of the 'person Han Hye-kyung.'
Han Hye-kyung was born with natural beauty, but driven by a desire to become a more intense and charismatic singer, she repeatedly underwent illegal plastic surgery. As a result, her face became so swollen that even her mother could not recognize her youngest daughter, and both the cast and viewers watching were unable to hide their sorrow.
The broadcast also revealed photos of Han Hye-kyung's face before the surgeries, when she looked relatively neat and pretty, which made the scene even more heartbreaking. In addition, a piece of writing that contained her inner thoughts was introduced for the first time. The writing included the confession, "After graduating from high school, I worked at a composition office and received songs, but things did not work out. Standing on stage was different. You had to have confidence, but because of my introverted personality my heart shrank."
She said that during her trainee days she first thought about getting plastic surgery after seeing another senior. Through that senior, who felt like a role model, she came to believe 'If I get plastic surgery, I could become pretty and a great person.' The place she was introduced to and went to was not a hospital but a secretive, gloomy private home. At the time, she did not even conceive of the idea of a plastic surgery clinic and thus entered the path of illegal surgery.
Over the next roughly 10 years her face gradually changed, and she could no longer continue her singing activities in Japan. By the time she returned to her sister's home in 1998, her appearance had changed so much that no one could recognize her.
The problem did not end there. Amid economic hardship, Han Hye-kyung eventually performed illegal procedures on herself. In her writing she also wrote, "I could not see anything." The materials used were not medical-grade silicone but paraffin oil, soybean oil, industrial silicone, and others, which caused severe side effects. The broadcast also aired footage of other victims who actually suffered from illegal procedures.
At the time, Han Hye-kyung said of her transformed face, "I am so miserable that I do not want to look in the mirror," which made viewers' hearts ache even more. She even experienced auditory and visual hallucinations.
