Actors Choi Jae-sung, Kim Hee-jeong, Kim Kyung-bo, Kang Da Bin, and Cheon Hee-ju have been confirmed for the cast, completing a premium lineup.
The KBS2 new daily drama Red Pearl, set to premiere in February (written by Kim Seo-jung, directed by Kim Seong-geun, produced by DK E&M and Monster Union), is a work that depicts a meticulous and intense chronicle of revenge in which two women who return under false identities reveal the sins and truth hidden within the Adel family.
Director Kim Seong-geun, who showed a keen directorial sense in many works such as My Merry Marriage, Udangtangtang Family, and It's Beautiful Now, teamed up with writer Kim Seo-jung, who has solid writing skills. In addition, with Park Jin Hee and Nam Sang-ji confirmed to appear, expectations among prospective viewers are rising.
Choi Jae-sung plays Park Tae-ho, chairman of the Adel Group, who spares no means for his objectives. Tae-ho, a powerful figure skilled at keeping and exploiting secrets, forms a sharp confrontational dynamic with Park Jin Hee and serves as the central axis of the drama. Choi Jae-sung, who proved his intense presence in works such as My Merry Marriage and The Woman of Secrets, is expected to add a heavy weight as the embodiment of evil.
Kim Hee-jeong plays Oh Jeong-ran, Park Tae-ho's wife and director of the Adel Gallery. Jeong-ran, who harbors the desire to seize the Adel Group through her son Park Hyun-jun (Kang Da Bin), falls into a vast whirlpool of fate because of unstoppable greed. Kim Hee-jeong, who has shown a wide acting spectrum in works such as Our Golden Days, Melo Movie, and Sweet Home, is expected to portray a character who harbors both desire and anxiety with density.
Kim Kyung-bo plays Park Min-jun, head of Adel Group's first headquarters. Park Min-jun, the nephew of Kim Dan-hee (Park Jin Hee), is called a "half-baked successor" despite being the eldest son. He dreams of freedom for the first time when he meets Baek Jin-joo (Nam Sang-ji) in college, but becomes entangled in a mysterious incident and confronts hidden truths. Rising actor Kim Kyung-bo, who has recently attracted attention as the next rom-com male lead through The Man from the Field, is expected to play a key figure who leads delicate emotional lines as he changes between love and revenge.
Kang Da Bin plays Park Hyun-jun, Adel Group's second headquarters chief and Park Min-jun's half brother. Free-spirited and reckless, Park Hyun-jun makes misguided choices as he struggles between his greed for Baek Jin-joo and his loyalty to Park Min-jun. Kang Da Bin, who made her name in works such as Udangtangtang Family and TV Novel Bloom, Dalsun, is drawing attention for what kind of acting transformation she will show in this work.
Cheon Hee-ju plays Choi Yoo-na, head of the Adel Group new business TF team and Jin-joo's friend. Consumed by inferiority and jealousy, Choi Yoo-na is a character who seeks to take everything from Baek Jin-joo and is responsible for the drama's tension. Cheon Hee-ju, who delivered impressive performances in works such as Esquire and Flex x Cop, takes on a villainous role transformation in this work.
The Red Pearl production team said the synergy created by the meeting of seasoned actors and emerging actors is the drama's biggest point of interest, and asked for much attention, noting that the secrets each character hides will expand one after another, and explosive acting showdowns will unfold amid fierce psychological battles in which one must protect one's own secret and uncover the other's.
Meanwhile, the KBS2 new daily drama Red Pearl is scheduled to premiere in February as the follow-up to A Graceful Liar.
