Singer Chuu (CHUU) shared her feelings ahead of the release of her first full-length album.
Chuu met with reporters at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 7th for a release interview for her first full-length album 'XO, My Cyberlove'.
Chuu's first full-length album 'XO, My Cyberlove' is an album that delicately captures the "changes in relationships" in an era where reality and virtuality overlap, and it previews a modern love story that interprets the forms of love connected through digital signals with Chuu's distinctive vocals and sensibility.
After debuting as a member of the girl group LOONA, Chuu began her solo career in earnest by releasing her first solo mini album Howl on Oct. 18, 2023, and she continued to refine her musical color by releasing mini album 2 Strawberry Rush on June 25, 2024, and Only Cry in the rain on Apr. 21, 2025. 'XO, My Cyberlove' is significant in that it is Chuu's first solo full-length album released on the 10th anniversary of her debut.
Ahead of the release of her first full-length album, Chuu said she was excited to meet fans with things she wanted to show in a full album that differ from mini albums, noting, "I'm so excited at the thought of meeting fans with the things I want to show in a full-length album, different from mini albums, and this full album includes nine tracks, and from those nine tracks I really want to show tones and expressions you've never heard or seen before," expressing both nervousness and excitement.
Chuu emphasized the "low register" she had not shown much of before on her first full-length album. She said, "If you look at the tracks, there are songs that bring vocals I haven't shown before. It's showing a completely different genre. I like low notes, and I haven't sung in a low register anywhere yet, so there's some excitement about that. Fans had occasionally been curious about my low register, and through this album I was able to attempt a full vocal sound," adding, "Since my LOONA days I have mainly done high notes, and while I also enjoy high notes, I think the tone and color of high and low ranges are different. Leading with low notes and shaving off at the briefly appearing high notes, I wanted to show a sweet low-register tone."
In particular, Chuu said, "I debuted under the LOONA system, and before joining LOONA I was a trainee for about a year, but I hardly received vocal training then, so I didn't know my strengths and weaknesses, which left me lacking confidence even after debuting," adding, "During my solo activities I took lessons whenever I could to perfectly develop my vocals. I took vocal lessons continuously, and whenever I noticed subtle changes in what I had thought were stagnant vocals, I found it more enjoyable and felt I was showing growth."
Meanwhile, Chuu's first full-length album 'XO, My Cyberlove' will be released on various music sites at 6 p.m. on the 7th.
