Voice actor Yu Ho-han passed away from a myocardial infarction one year ago.
Jan. 7, 2026, marks the first anniversary of voice actor Yu Ho-han's death. He died of a myocardial infarction on Jan. 7, 2025, at the age of 52.
Born in 1972, Yu Ho-han debuted as part of Daekyo Broadcasting's former Voice Actors' Troupe 4 and rejoined as a member of the KBS voice actors' troupe as part of the 29th class in 2002. In 2017, he served as the 31st president of the KBS voice actors' troupe for three years, and he worked to protect voice actors' rights while serving as senior vice chairman of the Korea Voice Performance Association and as a delegate of the voice actors' branch of the Korea Broadcasting Performers' Union.
Yu Ho-han's voice is familiar from Crayon Shin-chan, One Piece and The Avengers. He voiced Macao in Crayon Shin-chan: The Movie — The Handerland Adventure, Professor Chronos in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Haruhiko in Ga Shubel, Kisuke in Inuyasha, and roles in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. He also had bit parts in various films such as Midnight Runners, Our School, The Informant, and Chirashi: Dangerous Rumor.
Korea Voice Performance Association director Lee Yeon-hee, upon learning of Yu Ho-han's death, mourned, "Yu Ho-han was a righteous and loyal irreplaceable voice actor who showed such strong camaraderie that he was like family to all senior and junior colleagues beyond his affiliation," adding, "After hearing the news of his passing, I felt as if I had suddenly lost my right arm; his absence will be enormous."
Voice actor Chae Eui-jin left a tribute saying, "Moments working with him, who treated juniors with deference while being like an older brother, keep coming to mind," and Im Chae-heon remembered, "Although he was my direct senior, I miss such a wonderful older brother." Lee Yong-shin said, "Voice actor Yu Ho-han, who always lightened others' moods with pleasant jokes whenever we met. I still can't believe it," expressing deep sorrow.
