Actor Yoon Hee-seok visited the gravesite on the second anniversary of his close friend Lee Sun-gyun's death.
On the 5th, Yoon Hee-seok posted several photos along with the words "Already two years, still missed, still painful 2026.1.5 indecisive."
The released photos show Yoon Hee-seok visiting the gravesite of his close late friend Lee Sun-gyun. Yoon Hee-seok, accompanied by acquaintances, visited the place where Lee Sun-gyun rests to pay respects. Earlier, Lee Sun-gyun had reached the second anniversary of his death, and at his gravesite there were still many gifts and traces from fans and acquaintances who missed actor Lee Sun-gyun. Yoon Hee-seok expressed deep mourning for his friend, saying, "Already two years, still missed, still painful."
Meanwhile, Lee Sun-gyun was found dead in a parking lot near a park in Jongno District, Seoul, on Dec. 27, 2023. He was 48.
Before his death, Lee Sun-gyun faced controversy after being investigated by the police three times on suspicions related to drug use. At the time, he reported to the police that he had been extorted of 350 million won in cash by a woman, A, who was a manager at an entertainment establishment in Gangnam District, Seoul, and another female acquaintance, B. However, A alleged Lee Sun-gyun's drug use, and he had to be investigated by the police as a suspect of drug charges instead of as a victim of extortion.
During the investigation, Lee Sun-gyun consistently denied the allegations, and drug tests were "negative," but he had to stand in front of police photo lines during all three police investigations. Lee Sun-gyun's drug allegations were widely publicized from the preliminary investigation stage, and some media outlets exposed previously unknown police investigation details, including past conversations between him and A.
Ultimately, after completing his third police summons, Lee Sun-gyun was found dead about two months after the investigation began, shocking the public. At the funeral procession, fellow Korea National University of Arts classmate Yoon Hee-seok participated at the front of the cortege.
Afterward, the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency's anti-corruption and economic crimes investigation unit urgently arrested Officer C of the Incheon Police Agency on suspicion of leaking investigation information about Lee Sun-gyun to news outlets. Recently, Judge Kim Saet-byeol of the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 11 sentenced C, who was indicted on charges including unlawful disclosure of official secrets, to 1 year and 2 months in prison, suspended for 2 years, and ordered 80 hours of community service. Judge Kim said, "He admitted the wrongdoing, and the act did not materially impede the investigation. He had served dutifully as a police officer for 10 years but was dismissed over this matter," explaining the reasoning for the sentence.
