Actor Yoo Ji-tae said he rapidly gained weight in elementary school due to side effects from steroids.
Yoo Ji-tae appeared on the YouTube channel "Zzanbro Shin Dong-yeob" on the 5th and explained his unusually large frame since childhood.
He said, "When I was young, I took the wrong medication for a skin disease," and "the doctor gave me the wrong prescription." He continued, "They gave me medicine with steroids, and I really took a lot," adding, "After taking it, I really became large. I gained weight up to 65 kg."
Yoo Ji-tae also said, "If you look on the internet, there's a photo that comes up as 'Yoo Ji-tae in elementary school' where I look round," adding, "There were side effects then."
He also shared an anecdote about being misunderstood because of his size. Yoo Ji-tae said, "While filming 'Vigilante,' I gained up to 105 kg, and with the mask on, people seemed to think I worked in that line of work," adding, "On my way to the studio, some tattooed guys greeted me saying, 'Hello, boss,' so I said nothing, waved, and ran away."
He added, "When I was shooting the movie 'Ttukbangjeonseol,' I had slight burn marks applied as makeup on my body," and "I went to a sauna like that, and some gang members came over and said, 'Who are you to come here?'" He continued, "They didn't recognize me," adding, "When I said I was a film actor, they told me to take a photo with them."
