No Tail to Tell announces the return of a fox like this.
SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama No Tail to Tell (written by Park Chanyoung and Jo Ayoung, directed by Kim Jeongkwon) is a fantasy romance about an MZ nine-tailed fox who does not want to become human and a self-absorbed human whose chaotic attempts to save his doomed life collide. It tells the story of Eunho, a born-single nine-tailed fox who has tried everything except dating (played by Kim Hyeyoon), and soccer star Kang Siyul (played by Lomon), whose fate changed with a single choice, as they become entangled from 'disdain' to 'fate.'
After "Lovely Runner," Kim Hyeyoon returns after about 1 year and 8 months, and the meeting with Lomon, who impressed global viewers through All of Us Are Dead, makes the wait thrilling. Especially, the more the veil is lifted, the more curiosity about Eunho, played by Kim Hyeyoon, intensifies. Eunho is an MZ nine-tailed fox who does not want to become human. Wary of becoming human, she refrains even from small acts of kindness and, fearing she might lose her thousand-year magical power, avoids major misdeeds, but one day an unexpected incident shakes the life and death of her fox existence.
The nine-tailed fox, an imaginary creature passed down in Eastern legends, has been portrayed in many works in various forms. This nine-tailed fox, a creature with nine tails that was regarded as mysterious and seductive yet fearful and terrifying, is reborn in No Tail to Tell as a 2026-version nine-tailed fox character with different charms. The biggest distinction is, unquestionably, that it is a "nine-tailed fox that does not want to become human."
Writers Park Chanyoung and Jo Ayoung said, "I think an item that has been dealt with a lot has that much power. I think the reason the nine-tailed fox has been handled so often is because it is such an attractive existence," and added, "But why does such an attractive nine-tailed fox always want to become human in stories? That question was the starting point of this story. Rather than molding herself to the world's standards, living in the way she wants, through Eunho, who is confident and a little self-willed, we prepared the drama with the conviction that we could tell a new nine-tailed fox story different from before."
In the drama, Eunho lives in the human world in her own way. She grants wishes that humans cannot achieve with human abilities and receives a price, enjoying unchanging youth and beauty; she is an unabashed "childish one" and is known as the nine-tailed fox world's "golden one." Director Kim Jeongkwon, who decided to direct because he was attracted to the freshness that overturns traditional nine-tailed fox stories, explained, "Traditional nine-tailed foxes had a scary image, but the distinction of our drama's nine-tailed fox is that she has no interest in human affairs, does not charm men, and on the contrary refuses to become human—an 'MZ nine-tailed fox.'"
Writers Park Chanyoung and Jo Ayoung also said, "If you must describe Eunho, she's a 'little devil' character. She's willful in everything, eccentric and mischievous, a kind of antihero," and added, "But Eunho also has a kind, fragile, and, if you look closely, the most 'human' side that surfaces without her knowing. Because of that inner goodness, Eunho always fails to take that final step to be worse, and that contradictory aspect is her greatest charm."
Thus, the nine-tailed fox in No Tail to Tell will break away from the familiarity of archetypes and captivate viewers as another new character that blends familiarity and freshness. Above all, Kim Hyeyoon's acting transformation, who will carry on the lineage of the "K-nine-tailed fox," should not be overlooked. Kim Hyeyoon said, "Eunho's charm is that she thinks simply and acts on it," and added, "Because she has magical power and is over 900 years old, I tried to use mature interjections and commanding tones to express situations where she manipulates those around her." The quirky but cute and lovable story of Eunho, the MZ nine-tailed fox portrayed by Kim Hyeyoon, is already much anticipated.
