Actor Cha In-pyo paid tribute to the late Ahn Sung-ki.
On the 6th, Cha In-pyo recalled memories with Ahn Sung-ki on his social account, saying, "When my eldest daughter turned one, somehow Ahn Sung-ki sunbaenim bought and sent a pretty baby girl's outfit."
Cha In-pyo said, "When I wrote my first novel, he carried the book around saying it would be good to make it into a film and spread the word to people in the film industry. He often called and said let's do this together, let's consult about that. I was grateful and honored that he loved an unremarkable junior like me," he said.
He added, "I kept saying, 'I'll repay you someday, I must repay you,' but 20 years have passed. Apart from making him a cup of instant coffee, I haven't done anything for him. Thank you, sunbaenim. I'll repay you when we meet in heaven. Let's definitely meet again."
Ahn Sung-ki passed away at 9 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2026, at the age of 74. Ahn Sung-ki had recently been moved to the intensive care unit in a state of cardiac arrest and had been receiving intensive treatment, but ultimately did not recover and passed away while his family watched.
The funeral hall was set up in Room 31 of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital funeral hall, and the funeral procession is at 6 a.m. on the 9th. The burial site is Yangpyeong Byeolgeurida.
