Actor the late Ahn Sung-ki passed away, leaving the entertainment world in deep sorrow.
According to his agency Artist Company, Ahn Sung-ki died at 9 a.m. that day at the age of 74.
After being diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019 and undergoing chemotherapy, he was declared cured in 2020, but a recurrence was confirmed six months later during a regular checkup and he began treatment again. On the 30th of last month he was moved to the hospital in cardiac arrest and received treatment but ultimately did not recover and passed away.
The funeral will be held as a film industry funeral organized by the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation and The Korea Film Actors Association. Honorary chair Shin Young-kyun, director Bae Chang-ho, The Korea Film Actors Association chairman Lee Gap-seong, acting head of the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation Shin Eon-sik, and Korea Film Association chairman Yang Yun-ho serve as four co-funeral committee chairs, and actors Lee Jung-jae, Jung Woosung and other film figures will carry the casket to see the deceased on his final path.
After news of Ahn Sung-ki's death was reported, Yoon Jongshin left a tribute saying, "Thank you so much for a long time. I really liked you. I will not forget you." Jang Seongkyu also commented on Yoon Jongshin's post, "My deepest condolences," expressing his sorrow.
Bae Chul-soo shared a photo taken with Ahn Sung-ki and mourned, "Ahn Sung-ki hyung, who always greeted me with a bright smile whenever we met. Rest in peace." Lee Si-eon also said, "Watching your acting as a child nurtured my dream. I always respect you. Rest in peace, teacher Ahn Sung-ki."
Meanwhile, Ahn Sung-ki's wake will be set up in Room 31 of the Seoul St. Mary's Hospital funeral hall. The funeral procession will be at 6 a.m. on the 9th, and the burial site is Yangpyeong Byeolgeurida.
