In the end, DiCaprio delivered his acceptance remarks via a video message. A festival official said, "The video speech received a strong response, and warm applause followed his every remark," and "Although he was not physically present, the tribute to him was fully conveyed."
On the ceremony stage that day, co-stars from the film Teyana Taylor and Chase Infiniti went up in his place to express their respect for DiCaprio and accept the trophy on his behalf. The film also featured a stellar cast including Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Benicio del Toro, and Alana Haim.
