'Known as the first stuntman in Korean cinema,' veteran actor Kim Young-in has died at the age of 82.
On the 4th, according to the entertainment industry, Kim Young-in passed away at 6:55 a.m. that day. Born in 1943 in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, the late actor entered Chungmuro based on his well-trained physical strength and action sense cultivated through studying various sports such as hockey·rugby·boxing during his school years.
He entered the film world in 1961 by filming the action scenes for the main characters in director Kim Ki-duk's movie 'Five Marines.' He then intensified his acting career with director Kim Ki-duk's 'Burning Youth' in 1966, and appeared in numerous works such as Eomyeong, Silrok Kim Du-han, Successor, Black and White Great Power, The Great Conspiracy, and The Twelve Great Kings, delivering substantial action performances.
In the early 1980s, Kim Young-in briefly left the film world to work at construction sites in Libya, but he returned after two years and resumed his activities. He later expanded into TV dramas and gained popular acclaim in 1989 for playing the role of Kim Du-han in the KBS drama 'Windless Zone.'
In the 2000s, he appeared in films by director Ryoo Seung-wan such as 'No Blood, No Tears,' 'Arahan,' 'Crying Fist,' and 'Tazza: The High Rollers,' helping continue the lineage of Korean action cinema. He was also well known for choreographing action for stars of his era such as Lee Dae-geun and Kim Hee-ra, and he served as an executive director of The Korea Film Actors Association (The Korea Film Actors Association).
Meanwhile, immediately after news of Kim Young-in's death was reported, there was also an incident in which the news was mistakenly reported as the death of a namesake actor who gained fame for the role of 'Shim Young' in the drama 'The Rustic Period'.
