Actor Lee Ju-yeon left a strong impression in Made In Korea with unpretentious innocence and delicate, emotional acting.
The Disney+ original series Made In Korea, in which Lee Ju-yeon appears, is set in the turbulent 1970s Korea and depicts the story of Baek Gi-tae (Hyunbin), who seeks to reach the pinnacle of power by using the state as a revenue model, and prosecutor Jang Geon-young (Jung Woosung), who obsessively pursues him, confronting the era's underside and vast incidents.
Lee Ju-yeon plays Jang Hye-eun, the younger sister of Jang Geon-young (Jung Woosung) and a factory worker at a leather plant, portraying a character who does not lose hope despite a hard reality with sincerity. Her restrained emotional performance clearly revealed the character's inner life and firmly supported the drama's mood.
In episode 4, released on Dec. 31, Lee Ju-yeon appeared in simple work clothes and left a strong aftertaste. Hye-eun's expression as she steps outside after hearing that her brother had come showed mixed feelings of pleasure and shyness, and in her calm reply, "It's the same. It will gradually get better," the character's resilient attitude toward life naturally came through. With only restrained expressions and tone, Lee Ju-yeon convincingly portrayed Hye-eun's complex emotions and made a definite impression.
Especially in the scene where Hye-eun shyly begins to play the guitar at her brother's urging, Lee Ju-yeon, with a fully focused expression, revealed the character's innocence with awkward guitar strumming and a clear voice, and her singing, pouring sincerity into each note, left a gentle resonance for viewers.
In this way, Lee Ju-yeon naturally blended Jang Hye-eun's modest daily life and affectionate feelings toward her brother, adding warm vitality to the drama. Expectations are building for what kind of performances Lee Ju-yeon will continue to deliver in the unfolding story.
