A great star of Korea's voice acting world, the late Song Do-soon, has passed away.
On the morning of the 3rd, a funeral procession for the late Song Do-soon will be held at Asan Medical Center's funeral hall in Seoul. Afterward, the deceased will be taken to the burial site at Seoul Memorial Park.
According to the bereaved family on the 1st, Song Do-soon passed away from a chronic illness at around 10 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Konkuk University Medical Center in Seoul. She was 76.
Born in 1949, the late one joined TBC Voice Acting Troupe as part of its 3rd class in 1967 and after the media consolidation in 1980 worked as a KBS voice actor in the 9th class. Song Do-soon, who hosted Single Bungle Show, Evening's hopeful songs and Merry skits, also appeared as an actor in dramas such as Living, Because I Love, the Dalsu series and The Wayside Station.
In particular, the late actress, who participated in dubbing animated works such as Pat a Mat and 101 Dalmatians, became known for her narration in the MBC version of Tom and Jerry. The original work had no narration, but explanation was added during the dubbing process to describe situations. The late actor, who was much loved for her distinctive vocal tone at the time, also added to the joy by serving as the narrator for the 2021 live-action Tom and Jerry film.
After TBS's launch, she co-hosted Evening Walk Together with fellow voice actor Bae Han-sung and earned the nickname "the no-nonsense ajumma." She also appeared on TV programs such as Seba-kwa and Come to the empathy talk show, showing her face on television.
She went on to serve as an honorary ambassador for Korea Tourism in 2015 and, together with Bae Han-sung and Yang Ji-woon, founded the Special Speech Academy (SSA) to train juniors. Meanwhile, she received the radio grand prize at the Korea Broadcasting Awards in 1975 and the Bogwan Cultural Medal at the 2020 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
