SBS 'Taxi Driver 3''s "revenge-for-hire architect" Lee Je-hoon and "crime architect" Kim Sungkyu engaged in a psychological battle of deception and counterdeception, producing unprecedented suspense.
On the 2nd, the SBS Fri-Sat drama Taxi Driver 3 (writer Oh Sang-ho, director Kang Bo-seung) episode 13 depicted the "Rainbow Dark Heroes" — Dogi (Lee Je-hoon), CEO Jang (Kim Eui-sung), Go Eun (Pyo Ye-jin), Assistant Manager Choi (Jang Hyuk-jin) and Assistant Park (Bae Yu Ram) — confronting the notorious crime organization that sets up and sells crimes to those who want to become criminals, the Samheungdo Villains: writer Go (Kim Sungkyu), Seo Hwang (Lee Kyung-young), Sergeant Kim (Ji Dae-han), seafood businessman President Choi (Yu Ji-wang) and Madam (Lee Chae-won). Against them, the team began a revenge-for-hire plan amid an ice-thin crisis, creating nail-biting tension. Along with this, Taxi Driver 3 episode 13 recorded a peak rating of 15.6%, 13.5% in the Seoul metropolitan area, a 2049 average of 4.6% and a 2049 peak of 5.48%, topping all programs broadcast on Friday and ranking first in its time slot, proving its box-office power.
The episode began by spotlighting the Samheungdo Villains' vicious criminal activities, shocking viewers from the start. The writer Go, Sergeant Kim, President Choi and Madam, whom Dogi and CEO Jang met immediately upon entering Samheungdo, were all in cahoots. They ran an entire island as their "crime headquarters," strictly controlling access by outsiders. They also vetted and selected clients for criminal consulting, and mercilessly murdered anyone outside the client pool who knew their identities, making Samheungdo a meticulous and heinous organization that had been protected through ruthless measures.
The Rainbow Dark Heroes began to dig into the Samheungdo Villains' operations in earnest. The revealed organizational system itself was shocking. Go, who had introduced himself as a "photographer," was actually the "crime architect" who wrote every crime's scenario and found sources; the sashimi restaurant on the mainland run by seafood businessman President Choi was a logistics hub that shipped "crime kits" made on the island domestically and abroad; and Madam was the crime programmer. Samheung Company served as their hideout, and the numerous lanterns hung in the main hall recorded accounting ledgers of the criminal consulting information.
For a moment, the Rainbow Dark Heroes faced a crisis. CEO Jang, Go Eun, Assistant Manager Choi and Assistant Park were kidnapped by the villains and faced being murdered. Meanwhile, while investigating Samheung Company and confronting the temple head Seo Hwang, Dogi hid his identity by introducing himself as a "crime startup hopeful." Upon hearing about the members' abduction, Dogi claimed that CEO Jang, Go Eun, Assistant Manager Choi and Assistant Park were his business partners. Only if Dogi perfectly deceived Go, the leader of the Samheungdo Villains, could all the members survive on that thin line. Even during a nerve-wracking one-on-one with Go, Dogi did not lose his composure and evaded Go's interrogation with clever storytelling and eloquence. Go abandoned his suspicion after Dogi's record showed no trace of falsehood, allowing Dogi and all the members to survive.
At that time the Rainbow Dark Heroes met an unexpected person. He was reporter Bong (Jang Seong-won), who had come to Samheungdo with a senior reporter for coverage and survived alone. By combining Bong's reporting with the facts they had investigated, the Rainbow Dark Heroes were able to grasp the villains' cruel criminal activities in full. Bong pleaded for help, saying he wanted to do anything for his unjustly killed senior, and the Rainbow Dark Heroes took Bong on as a client and launched a new revenge-for-hire service.
Meanwhile, the Samheungdo Villains debated whether to accept Dogi and his group as clients. The team's leader, writer Go, found Dogi interesting, and Dogi hypnotized Go with a flawless performance. Ultimately, Go said, "I decided to try trusting Mr. Kim Dogi once," reached out his hand, and Dogi was finally recognized as a business partner and allowed to participate in the Samheungdo Villains' official business briefing.
But the tension could not be released until the end. In front of Dogi's eyes, other new members were mercilessly murdered. This raises questions about the Samheungdo Villains' purpose in letting Dogi attend the business briefing, and what will become of the Rainbow Dark Heroes, who started a revenge-for-hire service inside the perilous den called Samheungdo, sending viewers' curiosity skyrocketing about future developments.
