The band Daybreak (Daybreak) kicked off 2026 energetically.
Daybreak (Lee Won-seok, Kim Seon-il, Kim Jang-won, Jeong Yoo-jong) appeared on the Jan. 2 broadcast of KBS2 music talk show The Seasons : 10CM's Pat-Pat's "Indie 30th anniversary special–life music," appearing dressed in gonryongpo hanbok and capturing attention. Vocalist Lee Won-seok wittily shouted, "Is Jim going to sit while singing?", rallied the audience to their feet and instantly elevated the atmosphere.
The first song Daybreak performed that day was the signature cheering song perfectly suited to the start of the year, "I'll make you walk only on flower roads," and Lee Won-seok went down into the audience, popped a balloon and completed the stage with the crowd, drawing enthusiastic response. In the ensuing talk, Lee Won-seok shared an anecdote about the song, saying, "I wanted to make a song that, once heard, wouldn't be forgotten and would grab the heart tightly. We debated the word 'flower road' for more than six hours, and in the end the flower road opened for us too."
They also looked back on Daybreak's 20 years since debut. Recalling "a long time in obscurity," they remembered the days after first becoming known to the public with "Good" when they didn't hesitate to play outdoor events and ski resort band lives. Kim Jang-won said, "I worried a lot about whether we could continue, but I endured with the thought of whether we could live and meet again as a team like this." He added, "The dark times were long, but looking back now there were more happy times," delivering a touching sentiment.
Daybreak then performed "Purege" released last August. In particular, while introducing the song, Lee Won-seok said, "In 2026 I hope everyone blossoms with a blue heart. I hope tomorrow blooms more than today," offering a warm message of encouragement to viewers welcoming the new year.
In this way, Daybreak demonstrated the strength befitting a "national band," conveying the resonance of life music with a passionate live stage and sincere stories even on their first performance of the new year.
