On the 2nd, Kang Rae-yeon posted on her personal SNS about having had thyroid cancer surgery, writing, "They say it's a simple operation, but it really hurts sooooo much!!!! ㅠㅠ Everyone, don't get sick!!!! Once again, I deeply empathize with and feel for all those who are in pain. I really kept crying nonstop…"
That day, Kang Rae-yeon explained, "A 6-centimeter follicular tumor had already encased the entire left thyroid, rendering it nonfunctional, so they removed it with a hemithyroidectomy, and because the surgical field was secured and the small tumor on the right was in a favorable location, the surgeon removed it while operating."
She continued, "Thanks to them, it wasn't a total thyroidectomy but a hemithyroidectomy that preserved my right thyroid. The first day was so painful I could hardly keep my mind, but with the care of the friends who nursed me and the medical staff's attention, I have been recovering day by day. I am newly grateful for everything, and I hope to be a renewed Kang Rae-yeon in the new year ♡♡♡."
She added, "Happy new year to everyone for 2026!!! Thank you to the best medical team who saved my right thyroid and to my surgeon #Kim Beop-woo teacher. I hope the biopsy results come back favorable~ Follicular cancer is known to metastasize to the lungs and bones, so it's scary." She also added, "Ice packs on the surgical site are essential, and because it's cold, a warm heating doll is also essential. It's not a comfort doll. It's a hot-water pack doll."
